i think the ice blog one you have some improvement, time to take care the edges, and really push what you think is cool and throw away what is not, try to push your audience to look at a spot, I paint one to show what i mean also i add some thing just for fun hope your don't mind

Yea I agree Peter, I actually tried painting that one without any lines, so it got a little wonky and all over the place.

Thanks Herman, I'm going to do some more environments again soon and I will try and keep what you said in mind. Yours looks really good :)

And here is one that is halfway done but I got stuck and put it aside. It felt like a step backwards almost.

This is the worst drawing I have ever done and I am embarrassed to show it. But I think its a true gauge of where my non reference skills are at. :(

why you don't think that the central (3/4 ) pose didn't work? in my opinion this pose is much more better than the front view of the reason that the front view figure doesn't fir the ground as well, you can work more on the design and to rework some elements but at the end you will see that this will come out pretty nice character!
    best regards!

Hi Peter, I am definitely going to revisit that one again and get the pose right, are redo the whole thing, it just felt tacky but I think I needed to show my worst as well so as not to give the wrong impression as to where I am at.

Haven't posted or done much lately because of health issues, but nearly all resolved. Anyway here is ref and my progress so far on a new picture.

this is really coming along, no crits here. only thing I would say is to keep drawing people in natural surroundings. Used to chose refs randomly and ended up painting a whole bunch of indoor pictures which kept me running in circles and end up lerning not really much comprared to those which were taken outside, indoor (if the perso is not standing infront of a big window) we often have light bouncing through the whole room creating an artificial light where the form isnt defined very well on the model, except the photographer have set a special sort of lightning (life drawing) which is most of the time not the case if we rely on free source nude pictures...the reason why natural surrounding is quite obvious I geuss: light is penetrating the body from every corner forcing you to think of a billion variety and possiblies skin could react towards light... whne I say natural I don't alway mean some forest or jungle scenes but also cities, try to find rainy refs, misty refs, dawn, night ect. all things we, in most of the cases, don't have indoor.

here are some exsamples of, in my opinion, interesting outdoor lightning

Thanks Adrian, I will definitely paint all of those :) And I agree outside shots are better to learn from.

So here is my last one, kinda didn't really spend enough time blocking. Something to keep in the front of my mind for the next one. I still struggling to bring together the backgrounds in these. Well, admittedly I also got bored because of the massive amount of time I have spent on this one. >_<

I think mine is pretty bad well don't want to really invest too much time on it, my point is look at how much color the references have , try to get the value right and put those nice color in, loose it up a bit haha
