Anyway more faces, going to try doing a character from imagination as devin suggested on msn - might help break up things.
Ok... I was going to do a face but ended up doing a whole character.
Felt it helped a little, definitely took my mind off getting frustrated with faces. Might continue on this, or just do a few more.
it's a good start man
refine it a bit, AND do some more
about faces study, you need to look at where the head point to and where is the camera locate, most of your heads look like front shot, and some proportion issues are clear, you don't have to draw it looks like the photos but you need to train your eyes to pick up forms correctly
about the girl you create i think you just need to think more and do more naked drawing first to nail down you idea first
but in general good to see more good character studies from you
Wow man, awesome! Thanks so much, that really helps. I will redo the that character by referencing from you
Well here is another ugly character, still lots of issue
but gotta push through!
OK
I am not herman...but i tried a PO. Maybe herman will do a PO and take 1/16th the time it took me and get everything perfect for u...but here are some thoughts. They are all things that herman has already told me about my work, so I am trying to reapply it with critique to you...*cough* I still fucked up the anatomy in the hips pretty bad though.
a good general rule for posturing is opposites. if the chest it pointed up, usually the hips and head are pointed down. That being said, I don't think it's wrong the way you did the chest up and the head up. Same opposites generally applies to hips/shoulders/head. Generally, if the shoulders are tilting to the right, then the head and hips will tilt to the left.
try to keep in mind perspective when drawing the figure. Pick a point u are looking at, and draw the rest accordingly. drawing the X on the ground is really helpful to keep in mind the perspective of the figure. Those cross contour lines that herman draws to keep the different parts of the limbs in proper perspective is really helpful, so things like the socks u drew the ellipse in the opposite direction it should go, I think.
It seems you are having trouble placing the features on the head. I did a quick lines over the head to show u. Your features once on the head don't line up quite right, or at least how I am perceiving them...They always seem a bit askew. I also think u neglected to draw enough of the back of the head before putting on the hair.
hope this was a little bit helpful :S maybe herman will come save the day...
Thanks devin I will be revisiting that one and fixing it up.
Here is a progress on the flautist after hermans sketchover:
Progress on the flautist.
Update! Herman who helped me out on the face and rending by doing a paint over so that's the current stage it's at.
I'm going on hiatus for a month as I'm going to Japan. Will still try to lurk around here to make sure it's up and running, maybe a crit here and there but I don't think I will be able to update till I get back.
So yeah! Taking my trusty pen, moleskine and a camera, hope will have stuff to post here when I get back.
Hello, there are cobwebs everywhere in this place! (Japan was awesome)
