Well, I guess it hardly merits that title, but I don't know what else to call it. I know I've posted this before forever ago, but I liked the idea and wanted to redo it. I know of the many errors with quirky angles, funky hands, poor costume design, mising toes&wings on the dragon and such, but was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to offer me better lay out advice. I know Istra had way back when, and it was very helpful... except that it's now completely gone. XD Ummm, thanks?

Please forgive the crappiness. I know it's bad, but that's why I want to fix it up.
I'm not really fit to talk about story telling as I'm pretty darn bad at it (and haven't done much of it either)
, but here are some ideas that might help:
To start with, I think what you should do is break it down to the core story beats.
If you draw them out as a little story board (just panel next to panel in linear fashion) it would help you define the story better (and it's readability). Then you can come in and fill in the blanks to link each of the story beats together. Play around with camera angles on the shots (what do you want the reader to feel?). With this done, you can start thinking about panelling the story board into a comic.
Try looking at other comics that you feel have successfully panelled the idea you are trying to accomplish. There is nothing wrong with referencing their panelling layout, in fact it will help you learn different approaches that you can take yourself. De construct each panel: how much do we see? What angle are they using? How does your eye travel across the page? and so on.
Lastly ... Experiment
!
I hope that helps.
Thanks once again. The linear idea is good except I have a lot of problems visualizing angles and what would look best, even in single pictures. (one more thing to work on) Studying other comics seems that it would be the most helpful for me. Darn. I guess I'll have to read a bunch of manga. How terrible. :P Experimenting is good too, except when it yields weird outcomes, but I suppose that's all part of learning.
