Hi Everyone here at Dream Gauge! My Name is Peter Yong and I’m an Artist from Brisbane. Some of you know me, namely Herman and Rob. I have been following this forum for a while now and I think its time for me to participate. I love drawing Silly Cartoony stuff mostly but I feel like I need to practice and hone my skills more. So I want to post my normal weekly drawings here and some studies and I hope you guys can critique me and help me with my various artistic issues. I’d love to help you too if I could. Here is some of my stuff:
Some nice stuff there - looking forward to what you post next :). Also, if its possible, could you keep the width no more than 1100px on the width so people with smaller screens don't need to scroll...
*rayk* : Thanks man! Yeah, will do in the future! *RoB*: Thanks................Robert...........
This is an exercise that I am doing at the moment.:
I just wanted to spent some time refining a character and really use reference to design something realistic (something i dont do enough of) Rob and I did this back in Pandemic but I havent done a design like this since. here are my working sketches that I refined and drew over till I was satisfied (Originally I wanted to design my Character from Fallout, But that will be another time) : Once I was happy with the general look of him I started getting reference and that gave me more Ideas until I made a reference sheet:
The next step is Colour. Im scared (as always :P) But im confident with the planing that i have done so far
What do you guys think? I really want to do more of this. It felt really good to break this down
Hey Yong, welcome! It's nice to see another Brisbane artist! All I have to critique from what I can see that you have posted is not to be afraid of using very dark values in your paintings. They are all fairly light and you kind of lose some volume. I'm also liking your new project with the new character, looking forward to seeing more! :)
*MooJuice*- Hey man thanks. Yeah I agree that giving my guys darker shadows would make them pop for sure. I'll have to think about that in my future pics. Was able to put the basic colours down and give the face some love tongiht:
*Zulu* -Thanks Man! Been pretty Busy lately. Finally go to finish my Solder Dude. One of my main goals was to try and not to complicate things: Here are some Studies that I did in Painter to try something different: Also here is some personal stuff that I have done which I would love to share here: Any Comments or Critiques are more than welcome! Thanks for looking.
