thanks rayk i think you are right and i finish a final version
here's some nudges I made with it, I'm not really sure it's that much better/different...but just some arbitrary thoughts
ahh shit man I didn't see you updated before I posted....fffffsssssssssssssss that new base is heaps better
1.took out most ofthose weird blues you had in the green armor, they didn't make any sense when you put the figure in a dark environment like that
2. the purple plates in the shadows were shifted towards green, but I don't think they'd catch that much bounce light, so I knocked down the shift...maybe a bit too much, they'd probably catch a bit more light...I'm not sure I'm a bit tired.
3. I bathed the figure in light with a softlight layer. part in yellow light with yellow, part with blue in blue. did it with a HUUUUGE soft brush. doing this will shift the hue in a unified direction as well as leak a bit into the surrounding environment. Like the smoke as it gets away from the blue lightsource, will start to have the yellow lightsource lighting it
4. even if it's in smoke, the back shoulder armour is going to be catching some rim light, and you'll see a bit of that light thru the smoke.
5. added a bit of glow to the red...the only way they'd be that bright red especially while in shadow is if they were glowing, which would cause surrounding areas to be bathed in a bit of red light. just a soft brush again with low opacity
thanks again i do another version based on your critiques never spend that much time on a drawing like this lol
some new updates
nice update as always man, love the little boy with the ball - is that you?
maybe some more environment light (cold light) on the arm and the legs - that's my suggestion.
Colour looking better on both of those, good.
I'd like to see you try a few environment photo studies and some environments from your head. Copying a photo is a good exercise, but using that knowledge in work from imagination is a worthy challenge
!
okay i will do more environments then lol
Hey man, nice updates
.
Again I think you holding back with colour on 3rd picture, colour is great way to add drama to the image, I did a quick paintover using a few clichés to show you how you can make the image a little more exciting. I still think you aren't pushing the contrast in colours enough, playing it safe. Also with the first image, stay away from doing a middle split in the environment! It really kills the eye flow, again a quick sloppy paint over to show you what I would do to make it more exciting. With the weapon I think a cool spell effect is going to help build tension in the image and make it more exciting. But it might be just me, my design sense is very primitive haha.
thanks man i will give a go like that for that archer girl for sure, thanks for the tips there are some more anatomy studies
I've watched your studies from the first page again and I can say that you imrpoved so much with the colors since then and with this one:
